Dr. Charles Ficco is a Board-Certified Optometrist who specializes in the diagnosis and management of posterior segment ocular disease, anterior segment and external eye disease, and the co-management of ocular surgical procedures.
Dr. Ficco was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Colorado College where he played football and baseball. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Fort Lauderdale, FL where he received the Southern Council of Optometry’s Award for Clinical Excellence. He completed his residency training in ocular disease at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami School of Medicine which is one of the top rated ocular hospitals for adult ophthalmology. He trained under his mentor, Dr. Mark Dunbar, a world renowned optometrist as well as numerous world renowned ophthalmologists. After his residency, he joined the optometric staff at Bascom Palmer where he was in charge of the Optometric Externship Program.
After leaving Bascom Palmer, Dr. Ficco joined, Clayton Eye Center, a large ophthalmology/optometry private practice in Morrow, GA where he served as Clinic Director, Optometric Externship Coordinator and Residency Director. Dr. Ficco is a long-time resident of Georgia and has been providing his patients with exceptional, compassionate healthcare since 1995.
Dr. Ficco is a nationally recognized speaker who has a passion for educating his fellow doctors as well as medical students and residents. Every year, he is invited to lecture at some of the largest optometric conferences throughout the country. He has published numerous journal articles and volunteers his time to the Georgia Optometric Association’s Continuing Educational Committee.
He is a member of the American Optometric Association, Georgia Optometric Association, Greater Atlanta Optometric Association, Ocular Surface Society of Optometry, and American Board of Optometry.
In his spare time, Dr. Ficco enjoys playing tennis and traveling with his family, Dr. Mary Elizabeth Brice, and children, Brooke, Jack, and Sienna.
