Dr. Maithili Patel grew up in India and attended the Nagar School of Optometry at Gujarat University for her optometry education. During her time there she was trained at one of the busiest hospitals in Western India. Upon migrating to the States, she decided to go back to school and do what she enjoyed doing. She went to Pennsylvania College of Optometry to obtain her Masters in Clinical Optometry and then advanced placement Doctor of Optometry. During her time there she served as a class representative for MSCO and received an advanced studies certificate in specialty contact lenses.
While attending The Pennsylvania College of Optometry, she became a member of the American Optometric Association, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Pennsylvania Optometric Student Association, the Georgia Optometric Association (GOA), and the Private Practice Club. She was elected to the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society. During her time there she enjoyed mentoring underclassmen in Neuro-Ophthalmic diseases.
Dr. Patel completed an ocular disease residency here in Atlanta, where she received advanced training in glaucoma, corneal and retinal diseases. She was also trained to co-manage refractive, cataract, and pterygium surgical cases. She is humbled and honored to be a part of the Milan Eye Center and eager to serve the patients of Johns Creek and Cumming.
Outside of optometry, Dr. Patel enjoys spending time with her friends and family, cooking, hiking, and traveling.
